Charles Tomlinson (1927-2015) published over a dozen books of poetry with Oxford University Press, including his Collected Poems (1985), and was later published by Carcanet. His later titles from Carcanet include The Vineyard Above the Sea (1999), American Essays: Making It New (2001), Metamorphoses: Poetry and Translation (2003), Skywriting (2003), Cracks in the Universe (2006) and New Collected Poems (2009). Bloodaxe published his translation of Attilio Bertolucci's Selected Poems in 1993. Other poets he translated included Antonio Machado, Fyodor Tyutchev and César Vallejo. He collaborated with Octavio Paz, and edited many books including the Oxford Book of Verse in English Translation and editions of William Carlos Williams, Marianne Moore, George Oppen and John Dryden.
