Sarah Arvio was born in 1954 and grew up near New York City. She has published three collections in the US, Visits from the Seventh (2002), winner of the Rome Prize and a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship, Sono (2006), and night thoughts: 70 dream poems & notes from an analysis (2013), all with Knopf. Her first UK publication, Sono, with Visits from the Seventh (Bloodaxe Books, 2009), includes an audio CD of her reading Sono. She works as a translator for the United Nations in New York and Switzerland; she has also taught poetry at Princeton.
