Jenny Joseph is one of Britain’s best-known poets. Her poem ‘Warning’ (‘When I am an old woman I shall wear purple…’) was voted Britain’s most popular modern poem in a BBC poll.
Her Bloodaxe Selected Poems (1992) includes this and other work from her collections The Unlooked-for Season (1960), Rose in the Afternoon (1974), The Thinking Heart (1978) and Beyond Descartes (1983). Her later books include Extended Similes (Bloodaxe, 1996) and Led by the Nose: A Garden of Smells (Souvenir Press, 2004). She lives in Gloucestershire.
