"Bloodaxe Books has a ferocious reputation as a publisher of ground-breaking poetry."
The Sunday Times
"A list that exudes confidence and promotes the good name of poetry."
The Scotsman
"If Bloodaxe Books are spoken of, we'll expect
The reverent murmur of - Respect... Respect"
Adrian Mitchell
"The books have class and clout. Bloodaxe is an extremely important venture."
Melvyn Bragg

"Bloodaxe -
well-designed and committed books, though never comfortable to read. They answer Kafka's definition of what real literature should be: 'One should only read books which bite and sting one. If the book we are reading does not wake us up with a blow to the head, what's the point in reading? A book must be the axe which smashes the frozen sea within us'."
Brian Hinton,
Tears in the Fence

© Applying for COPYRIGHT PERMISSION

Bloodaxe Books controls and asserts intellectual property rights for all poets it publishes according to © International Copyright Law (Berne Convention 1886; UCC, 1952; Geneva, 1996). This establishes the right of the author to be recognised as the creator of the work, prevents derogatory changes to the work, and supports their economic right to receive fair reward for use of that work by others.

Our standard minimum fee for use of a poem (1-10 lines), as set by The Society of Authors 2005 is £60, and this rises line by line, and also depending on the range of distribution territory. However, this is negotiable for low print runs, educational purposes and good causes.
