Constantine Rusanov was born in Nikolayev, in the Ukraine, in 1979. He holds a B.A. from Amherst College in English literature and is currently writing a dissertation on Joseph Brodsky’s interlingual poetics at Yale University. In addition to Tomas Venclova, he has also translated selections of Osip Mandelstam, Marina Tsvetaeva, Boris Pasternak, Maximilian Voloshin and Vladimir Mayakovsky (into English) and W.H. Auden, Emily Dickinson and Tomas Venclova (into Russian). He is a recipient of the Nina Berberova Award (Yale University) and the PEN American Center Translation Grant (2006). He is a co-translator of Tomas Venclova's The Junction: Selected Poems (Bloodaxe Books, 2008), and won first prize in the Joseph Brodsky/Stephen Spender Prize 2011 with his translation from the Russian of a poem by Alexei Parshchikov.
