Website orders from Ireland and the EU

We regret that we are currently unable to accept website book orders from readers in the European Union due to changes in VAT regulations imposed from 1st July 2021 following the UK's departure from the EU. We are working on possible solutions to these difficulties and hope to be able to start sending out orders again if this becomes possible.  We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.

Orders from Ireland

We have set up a new online ordering arrangement for readers in Ireland with Books Upstairs in Dublin. They will also send elsewhere in the EU for a very reasonable postage charge.

Books Upstairs is Ireland’s oldest independent bookshop. Founded in 1978 – the same year as Bloodaxe – Maurice Earls' shop has been Bloodaxe’s most supportive stockist in Ireland for decades: for 27 years from its best-known location at 36 College Green opposite Trinity College, and from 2015 from its present larger premises at 17 D’Olier Street. It launched its website https://booksupstairs.ie for online sales in 2020. As well as Bloodaxe’s numerous titles of Irish interest, Books Upstairs will be stocking a comprehensive range of other Bloodaxe poetry titles in demand with readers in Ireland. There are already links on individual book pages on the Bloodaxe website taking Irish readers direct to the corresponding ordering page on booksupstairs.ie.

Customers in Ireland can also order via their local bookshop.

Orders from the rest of the EU

Book orders are still being delivered to bookshops in the EU by our distributor Grantham Book Services via DHL, who pass the new customs charges back to us. So readers in Europe can still order our books from bookshops and online retailers in their own countries. Or they can order from Amazon.co.uk and the Book Depository with the new customs charges included in their payments.

Thank you.
